[Atrial Fibrillation/Records]
Success rates for catheter ablations of atrial fibrillation in our hospital (1,030 cases) are as follows (by type of atrial fibrillation).

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillations (790 cases):
Permanently cured after one ablation: 80%
Permanently cured after two ablations: 90%
Approximately 80% of patients with atrial fibrillation are permanently cured after one  catheter ablation; 20% of patients experience a relapse.  The ablation process is repeated in these 20% of patients.  After ablation is performed twice, approximately  90% of  patients are permanently cured without the use of antiarrhythmic drugs.
Even in cases when ablation does not permanently cure fibrillation , the event does not recur in 98% of patients after the use of antiarrhythmic drugs.

Chronic atrial fibrillation (240 cases):
Permanently cured after one ablation: 60%
Permanently cured after two  ablations: 80%
Approximately 60% of patients with atrial fibrillation  are permanently cured  after one  catheter ablation; 40% of patients experience a relapse.  The ablation process is repeated in these 40% of patients.  After ablation is performed twice, approximately 80% of  patients are permanently cured without the use of antiarrhythmic drugs.
Even in cases when ablation does not permanently cure fibrillation, 90% of patients maintain a normal pulse after the use of antiarrhythmic drugs.
